BAGUIO CITY — The public is invited to gather before dawn on April 5 for an Easter Sunrise Service at Malcolm Square, as religious and civic leaders seek to unite the community in faith and renewal.

The annual event, scheduled at 5 a.m. at the city’s People’s Park, will be led by the Baguio City Ecumenical Council (BCEC) in partnership with the Baguio Character Council (BCC), according to a statement from the city’s Public Information Office.

Carrying the theme, “Living Christ: The Light and Hope for the Fullness of Creation,” organizers said the service reflects their continuing effort to promote spiritual growth and moral values in the city.

BCEC president Fr. Genesis Mark Langbao said the gathering comes at a time when communities face mounting challenges, underscoring the need for unity and faith.

“In these challenging times, we aim to bring the community together to celebrate the light of Christ that guides our city toward restoration and hope,” Langbao said.

In a March 27 letter, Langbao invited Mayor Benjamin Magalong to deliver the welcome remarks in his capacity as BCC chairman, citing his leadership in advancing Baguio’s “Character City” initiatives.

Langbao also expressed gratitude for the mayor’s continued support of the ecumenical community.

The Easter Sunrise Service, a longstanding tradition in the city, is open to residents and visitors seeking a shared moment of reflection at the break of day.
