BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Baguio City held a citizen-led Bike Count on June 21, 2024, organized by the Daily Cycle Movement Baguio and the Baguio WAEWA Cycling Team.

The event was in collaboration with the City Government of Baguio, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), and the convenors of the Mobility Awards, including the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, the Climate Reality Project Philippines, MNL Moves, 350 Org Pilipinas, and the Pinay Bike Commuter Community.

The bike count aimed to gather data on cyclists entering and leaving the Central Business District.

This data will help urban planners design appropriate infrastructure, justify funding, and highlight the socio-economic benefits of cycling in the city.

Over 41 local volunteers participated in the bike count.

Baguio City was one of 17 cities nationwide participating in the “2024 Bilang Siklista Cities” initiative.
