Baguio City anti-drug operation: Four arrested, P2.4M drugs seized

BAGUIO CITY – Authorities successfully apprehended four drug personalities, all residents of Baguio and Benguet, in a significant anti-illegal drugs operation conducted in Baguio City on January 31, 2024.

The operation, carried out through a joint effort by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) CAR-Mountain Province, PDEA Baguio-Benguet, and the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs estimated to be worth P2.4 million.

According to reports submitted to PRO Cordillera regional director David K. Peredo, Jr., the suspects were taken into custody during a buy-bust operation in Brgy Pinsao Proper, Baguio City.

The seized items included 20 pieces of suspected dried marijuana in tubular form, with an approximate weight of 20 kilograms.

The Standard Drug Price (SDP) of the confiscated illegal substances is valued at Php2,400,000.00.

The on-site inventory of the seized evidence was conducted in the presence of the arrested suspects, Brgy Kagawad Jhony Lee of Brgy Pinsao Proper, media representative Jerwin Aquino of Bombo Radyo Baguio, and NPS Representative, Pros. Philip Cesar Castel.

Following the successful operation, the suspects were brought to the custody of PDEA-CAR for documentation and proper disposition.

Charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are currently being prepared against the arrested individuals.
