BAGUIO CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera, led by Regional Director David K. Peredo, Jr., joined forces with Baguio City mayor Benjamin B. Magalong to organize the “National Remembrance of SAF 44 Bike Ride 2024” in a solemn tribute to the Fallen Special Action Force (SAF) 44.
The event took place on January 28, 2024, bringing together law enforcement officers, city officials, and biking enthusiasts.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Napino Cops under the leadership of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) director Francisco Bulwayan, Jr., garnered active participation from PRO Cordillera cops and various bike enthusiasts.
The poignant journey commenced at the Burnham Biking Area in Baguio City, winding its way to Camp Major Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet.
The procession culminated at the PRO Cordillera Masigasig Grandstand, where a heartfelt program unfolded.
During the ceremony, PBGEN Peredo, Jr. and Mayor Magalong conveyed messages of support for the event.
The program also included a screening of a documentary honoring the heroism of the SAF 44.
In his address, PBGEN Peredo, Jr. stated, “As we commemorate the heroism of the gallant SAF 44 through the ‘BIKE RIDE 2024,’ which aims not only to remember their sacrifices but also to promote a strong and healthy body and to continue the partnership between the community and other stakeholders, we also give our best and stand firm to do our duties and responsibilities. Nonetheless, let us continue to remain strong, unshaken, and in shared solidarity as keepers of peace and managers of orderliness in our region.”
“To the gallant SAF 44, our snappiest salute to your bravery. We are wholeheartedly thankful for your service and sacrifice in defending our country and people,” PBGEN Peredo added.
Mayor Magalong echoed the sentiment, saying, “Let the SAF 44 remind us that serving the country is never wrong to offer one’s life every step of the way, without hesitance, without reservations, and without regrets. Sabay-sabay nating bigyang saludo ang kanilang serbisyo.“

Following the program, the bike ride pressed on, concluding its route at the Convention Center in Baguio City.
