BAGUIO CITY — A senior citizens booth was proposed to be installed at Malcolm Square or in any appropriate area to provide information, address complaints, and cater to important concerns of the elderly group.
The resolution was approved at the city council recently, with a request for the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) to coordinate with the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) and City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for the matter.
This was adopted from the proposal of Senior Citizen Official for a Day (SCOFAD) Nene Astudilla Godoy, to benefit the elderly in the city.
Senior Citizen Godoy’s proposal is anchored on Article XIII, Section 11 of the constitution which states that, “The State shall endeavor to make essential goods, health, and other social services, to all the people at affordable cost. This shall be a priority for the needs of the underprivileged, sick, elderly, disabled, women and children.”
Republic Act 9257, an Act to maximize the contribution of Senior Citizens to Nation Building, Grant and Special Privileges and for other Purposes, was also a basis for the proposal.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong approved the resolution on November, 25, 2024.
