MANILA, June 17 — BDO Unibank reinforced its support for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) by promoting financial literacy and access to banking services during the National Migrant Workers’ Day celebration organized by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

The event brought together OFWs and their families as government agencies and private-sector partners showcased programs designed to help migrant workers strengthen their financial security and prepare for long-term goals.

As part of the celebration, BDO conducted a financial awareness session and assisted attendees with banking-related services, highlighting the role of financial education in helping overseas workers maximize their earnings and build a stronger future for their families.

“Many OFWs make significant sacrifices to provide a better future for their families. Beyond sending money home, it is important that they have access to financial tools that help them save, manage their finances, and work toward their long-term goals,” said Genie Gloria, senior vice president and head of remittance at BDO.

BDO said financial literacy remains an important component of helping migrant workers make informed decisions on savings, budgeting and long-term financial planning.

National Migrant Workers’ Day is observed annually to recognize the contributions of Filipino workers overseas, whose remittances continue to support household consumption and contribute significantly to the Philippine economy.

BDO’s participation underscores growing collaboration between financial institutions and government agencies to expand financial inclusion initiatives for OFWs and their families.
