MANILA — As Holy Week travel begins amid rising fuel costs, SM Supermalls is positioning itself as a key stopover for electric vehicle (EV) drivers nationwide.

SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, announced that more than 160 EV charging stations are now available across multiple mall locations.

The initiative is part of the company’s broader SM Green Movement, aimed at promoting sustainable mobility options for Filipino motorists.

Beyond convenience, the charging stations allow drivers to maximize their downtime by shopping, dining, or resting while their vehicles recharge.

With fluctuating fuel prices, EVs are increasingly seen as a practical alternative for long-distance travel.

“By making EV charging accessible in familiar community spaces, SM Supermalls helps make sustainable travel more practical, empowering, and accessible for everyday journeys and holiday road trips alike,” the company said in a statement.

Motorists planning their Holy Week trips are encouraged to include SM malls along their routes, combining recharging with leisure and essentials.
