MANILA, Philippines — Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) organization, has officially announced the establishment of its Pride Club.
Comprised of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQ+) identifying employees, the club will serve as champions for workplace inclusion within the company.
June holds significance for the LGBTQ+ community in the Philippines as it represents a month-long celebration of Pride.
Various advocacy groups, civil society organizations, and other entities organize Pride celebrations that typically culminate with a pride march.
According to a statement issued by HCPH, the company has been a staunch supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has participated in various Pride events.
The company has received recognition for its diversity practices, including awards for transparency, reporting, and diversity and inclusion.
With a focus on environmental, social, and governance programs, HCPH boasts of a diverse workforce with over 14,000 employees, 52% of whom are female.
The company has collaborated with advocacy partners and undergone gender equality assessments to further its commitment to workplace inclusion.
“At Home Credit Philippines, DEI and workplace inclusion is important for us. We have always championed these causes as integral for how we take care of our people and build safe spaces where our employees can be themselves and thrive,” HCPH chief people officer Alpha Omega Aquino said.
The establishment of the Pride Club in 2022 signifies HCPH’s dedication to promoting equity and inclusivity in the organization.
“The establishment of our Home Credit Pride team signals a more collaborative approach in creating equitable and inclusive policies and practices for our organization. This also allows our employees to be more empowered in advocating for causes that matter to them.” Alpha added.
The club aims to create equitable policies, empower employees, and advocate for important causes.
Through its initiatives, such as the #AtHomeKaDito manifesto video, the Pride Club celebrates the contributions of LGBTQ+ employees and emphasizes HCPH’s status as an equal opportunity employer.
“We wanted to represent the LGBTQ+ employees of Home Credit and share how the company supports and empowers us. Our pride video is a glimpse of how diverse our employees are in terms of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) and how we are celebrated for our contributions regardless of our gender orientation and identity. As a proud trans woman, I have always felt at home in my 5 years of being a Home Credit employee,” HCPH Pride Club president and collections project specialist Janna De Castro said.
HCPH offers equitable benefits to LGBTQ+ employees, including wellness leaves, gender-neutral restrooms, and HMO coverage for domestic partners.
The Pride Club intends to become an institutionalized employee resource group, co-creating initiatives that benefit employees and the communities they serve.
“Our goal as a club is to become a reliable partner for our company when it comes to
strengthening our DEI policies and programs. Eventually, we hope to become an
institutionalized employee resource group who can co-create initiatives and programs that will benefit and add value, not just the members of our club our employees, but likewise for the communities we serve,” HCPH Pride Club vice president and public relations manager Russel Patina said.
HCPH, known for empowering millions of Filipinos with access to credit opportunities, remains committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels at home.
