Vibes Asian Championship set for Manila this November

MANILA, Philippines — The Vibes Asian Championship, one of Asia’s most anticipated trading card game (TCG) tournaments, will take place at the YGG Play Summit on November 21–22 in Manila.

The event features a $20,000 USD prize pool and is open to all players through public registration, with participation capped at 128 competitors.

Minors may join with parental consent.

Developed by Orange Cap Games, Vibes is a digital and physical TCG inspired by the Pudgy Penguins brand.

The game blends accessibility and strategy, letting players build “huddles” of penguin characters, action cards, and relics to compete against others — drawing comparisons to Magic: The Gathering and Disney Lorcana.

“We have the biggest tournaments, and the world’s best competitors, coming to the Philippines this November,” said Mike Ovecka, Head of YGG Esports. “The YGG Play Summit is becoming the heart of competitive Web3 gaming.”

The tournament will follow a Swiss +1 qualifier format, with the top 8 players advancing to a single-elimination final.

Players ranking within the top 32 will also earn cash prizes. Sashi Balakrishnan, a certified Level 3 Magic: The Gathering Judge from Malaysia, will oversee the tournament to ensure fair play.

To encourage participation, players may include up to 12 proxy cards— substitute versions of cards they don’t physically own — allowing competitors to play even without access to rare cards.

Ahead of the championship, YGG Pilipinas Metaversity Marshals are holding a series of Learn-to-Play Vibes sessions and community tournaments across Manila and nearby cities to introduce new players to the game.
