Police uncover nine Marijuana plantations in Benguet

KIBUNGAN, Benguet — Police destroyed more than P4 million worth of marijuana during a large-scale eradication operation in Benguet on January 11, 2026, as authorities intensified their anti-illegal drugs campaign in the Cordillera region.

The Police Regional Office–Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) reported that nine marijuana plantations were uncovered in Barangays Tacadang and Poblacion, Kibungan, yielding 17,450 fully grown marijuana plants and 5,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves.

The seized marijuana had a total Standard Drug Price of PhP4.09 million.

The operation was carried out by a multi-unit team composed of personnel from the 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, Kibungan Municipal Police Station, the Benguet Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement and Intelligence units, the PRO CAR Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Cordillera.

All marijuana plants were destroyed on site. Police said further investigation is ongoing to locate additional plantations and identify individuals behind the cultivation activities.
