Man wanted for 33 years arrested in Nueva Vizcaya for murder

NUEVA VIZCAYA – After more than three decades on the run, a murder suspect, Balog Pah-e, aged 96 and a resident of Poblacion, Hingyon, Ifugao, was apprehended on October 25, 2023, in Sitio Calaoagan, Bascaran, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

The arrest was the result of an intensive manhunt operation conducted by the Philippine National Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera.

Pah-e had managed to evade the authorities for 33 years until he was finally captured by joint operatives from the Ifugao Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, Regional Intelligence Division PRO Cordillera, 2nd Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15.

His apprehension was made possible through the execution of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Romeo U. Habbiling of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14 in Lagawe, Ifugao, on August 29, 2023.

According to reports submitted to PRO Cordillera regional director David K. Peredo, Jr., Balog Pah-e was not a stranger to law enforcement.

He had been listed as the No. 3 Most Wanted Person at the regional level, the No. 2 Most Wanted at the provincial level for the 4th Quarter of 2023, and the No. 1 Most Wanted at the municipal level for the 3rd Quarter of 2023.

The crime for which Pah-e was sought dated back to March 1990 in Hingyon, Ifugao.

During that fateful incident, he allegedly shot the victim multiple times with a shotgun, resulting in the victim’s death.

Following his arrest, Balog Pah-e was placed in the custody of the Hingyon Municipal Police Station to await the appropriate legal proceedings.

This apprehension marks a significant breakthrough in law enforcement efforts and serves as a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice, even over the span of decades.
