BAGUIO CITY — Mayor Benjamin Magalong has disowned circulating stories regarding his recent resignation from the Independent Committee for Infrastructure (ICI).
In an official notice, the mayor said these stories are false and fabricated as he has not issued new statements other than the one posted in his official page nor has he authorized anyone to speak for him.
“Please refrain from spreading unverified information,” the mayor said in an advisory issued on Sept. 29.
He also urged the public to rely only on the mayor’s official communication channels for accurate and verified information.
The clarification comes after various posts and rumors began circulating on social media, suggesting alternative reasons and statements about the mayor’s resignation.
Magalong reiterated that the only legitimate basis for his resignation is contained in his official resignation letter and public statement, both of which have already been released.
City officials also reminded the public to practice responsible sharing online and avoid fueling misinformation.
