MANILA, Philippines — Senator Imee Marcos is urging the development of a digital Agriculture Data Dashboard that would provide a real-time overview of the country’s food supply, crop production, imports, and prices to strengthen policymaking and food security.

Marcos said the initiative would empower farmers, consumers, and government agencies to make data-driven decisions rather than rely on estimates or middlemen.

“We need a system that shows the real picture from farm to market,” she said. “With accurate data, we can prevent overproduction, stop speculative pricing, and ensure fair prices for both farmers and consumers.”

The proposed dashboard would track crop yields, planting and harvest schedules, import volumes, and farmgate-to-retail prices, allowing the government to act quickly on market trends.

Marcos emphasized that consolidating these details in one system could help stabilize prices, reduce waste, and strengthen local food production.

“Data should drive our food policy — not guesswork or middlemen,” the senator added, noting that the system would be key to achieving true food sovereignty in the Philippines.

The call comes as the country continues to grapple with volatile food prices and supply challenges caused by climate disruptions, import delays, and logistical bottlenecks.

Analysts have long urged greater data transparency to help the agriculture sector adapt to shifting market and production conditions.
