BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) will be deploying some 1,354 law enforcers and force multipliers to ensure peace and order during the conduct of the October 30, 2023, Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and the commemoration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2, 2023.
BCPO City Director Francisco Bulwayan, Jr. announced the deployment of 653 law enforcers to enhance voter security, safeguard the Board of Election Inspectors, and maintain law and order at city barangay polling centers during the BSKE.
However, he claimed that the number of force multipliers to assist the law enforcers during the BSKE is still being ascertained by the local police force to ensure that the human resources needed will be readily available.
The BCPO official added that the liquor ban starting 12:01 am of October 29 until 11:59 pm of October 30, 2023 in time for the BSKE will be strictly implemented in the city as part of the initiatives to ensure the maintenance of law and order during the conduct of the elections.
According to him, more than 600 police personnel will perform their regular duties and responsibilities in the various police offices and stations around the city to respond to the needs of people seeking assistance to guarantee the continuous presence of the police inside and outside the offices.
On the other hand, Bulwayan disclosed that a total of 701 police personnel and force multipliers will be dispatched to oversee activities at the 12 public and private cemeteries across the city.
They will be present before and during All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day to provide assistance to people visiting the tombs of their departed loved ones and to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on the roads leading to the cemeteries, among other related responsibilities.
Out of this total, 496 are BCPO members, 156 are volunteers experienced in assisting the city government in similar efforts, and 49 are police personnel currently in training.
He explained that the local police force requires volunteers or force multipliers with experience in communication, traffic management, and emergency response.
They can be strategically deployed in areas across the city where their presence and skills are needed for crowd control in both public and private cemeteries, as well as polling centers.
