BALBALAN, Kalinga – The diligent efforts of the Lumin-awa Cops of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) have led to the arrest of a high-ranking officer of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) at Sitio Saleng, Balantoy, Balbalan, Kalinga, on June 6, 2024.

According to reports submitted to Regional Director PBGEN David K. Peredo, Jr., joint operatives from Kalinga PPO, Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and the 103rd Infantry Battalion, 503rd Brigade of the Philippine Army conducted a follow-up operation in response to an earlier encounter between law enforcement and CTG members in Balbalan, Kalinga, on May 31, 2024.

During the operation, operatives discovered a critically injured individual in the vicinity, requiring urgent medical attention due to lower extremity injuries.

Immediate action was taken, and the individual was swiftly transported to Kalinga Western District Hospital for necessary medical treatment.

Subsequent investigation revealed the identity of the individual as the Vice Squad Leader of Squad Uno of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Baggas.

Additionally, he is listed as number 9 on the Periodic Status Report Threat Group for the 4th Quarter of 2023, and he has standing warrants of arrest for serious offenses including murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder.

As of press time, operations continue in neighboring barangays to identify and neutralize any remaining CTG members, and efforts are underway to gather intelligence on potential escape routes utilized by fleeing insurgents.
