BAGUIO CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) destroyed ₱86,800 worth of non-conforming and unsafe consumer products on October 17, 2025, at the Baguio City Public Market.
The seized items included LPG regulators, extension cords, circuit breakers, GI wires, and PVC pipes that failed to meet mandatory safety and quality standards.
These products were confiscated by the DTI as part of its continued effort to protect consumers from hazardous goods in the market.
Also demolished were defective weighing scales seized by the City Treasurer’s Office since October 2024, which were found to give inaccurate readings.
The ceremonial destruction was witnessed by officials from the DTI, City Mayor’s Office, and City Treasurer’s Office, along with local vendors and shoppers.
The activity highlighted the government’s firm stance on consumer protection, fair trade, and product quality enforcement.
DTI reiterated its call for consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unsafe products sold in the market to ensure their safety and uphold fair business practices.
