LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — In a gesture of support and compassion, PROCOR regional director David K. Peredo, Jr., on July 21, 2023, visited Police master sergeant Raycon Jan Gil B. Ganon, who is currently hospitalized at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Benguet General Hospital.
During the visit, PBGEN Peredo, provided financial assistance to the family to aid with the medical expenses and offered prayers and comfort to the Ganon family.
PMSg Ganon, an officer assigned at the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit (PIDMU), Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO), was hospitalized after being involved in a road accident earlier this month.
The incident occurred when he was hit by a car while crossing the pedestrian lane at KM.5, Brgy. Balili in La Trinidad.
Due to the severity of the collision, PMSg Ganon has been in a comatose state since the accident, prompting concerns from the law enforcement community.
As a consequence, the suspect was apprehended and is currently detained at La Trinidad Municipal Jail in Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The driver now faces charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Physical Injuries and Violation of R.A. 10586, also known as the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013.
The visit of PBGEN Peredo emphasized the commitment of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to support its officers and their families during challenging times.
The financial assistance provided by the regional director aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by PMSg Ganon’s family as they cope with the medical expenses and other related challenges.
As the PNP continues to address the case, the visit also served as a reminder of the importance of responsible and sober driving to ensure the safety of all road users.
