Baguio City has implemented a strict ordinance which prohibits the use, sale, distribution, and advertisement of cigarettes, vapes, and other tobacco products in certain areas since January 2018.

Renowned for its picturesque landscapes and cool climate, Baguio continues to prioritize the well-being of its residents and visitors by reinforcing its long-standing commitment to a smoke-free environment.

Since the approval of Baguio City Ordinance No. 34, Series of 2017, also known as the Smoke-Free Baguio Ordinance, the city has taken significant strides in curbing the use, sale, distribution, and advertisement of cigarettes, vapes, and other tobacco products.

The Smoke-Free Baguio Ordinance emerged as a testament to the city’s unwavering dedication to public health.

The ordinance, designed to shield individuals from the detrimental effects of smoking, vaping, and tobacco consumption, has proven instrumental in creating a safer and cleaner environment for all.

The current ordinance amended Baguio City Ordinance No. 8, Series of 2008 or the Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance, and reinforces the city’s commitment to combatting the pervasive influence of tobacco and its associated harms.

The updated measures impose stringent penalties for violations, ensuring compliance and sending a strong message against the use of tobacco products in designated areas.

Baguio City’s proactive approach to public health serves as an inspiration for other cities and municipalities across the nation.
